03announcements-anatomyLeslie Smith, a biomedical sciences graduate student, finished her first year of an American Association of Anatomists-funded training program by completing an intensive weeklong course at Oxford University in England.

Smith is one of just a handful of graduate students from the United States to be accepted into the two-year Anatomy Training Program, put on by the Anatomical Society of Great Britain in collaboration with the AAA. The distance learning program gives bioscientists in the higher education setting the chance to receive hands-on vocational training in topographical anatomy under the guidance of a mentor.

Dr. Paul Dechow, department chair and Smith’s faculty mentor, also attended, teaching some of the week’s courses. The AAA funds trips for both the student and his or her mentor.
