Dr. Tommy Harrison named Texas Dentist of the Year
Dr. Tommy Harrison, ’79, of Katy, Texas, was named the 2022 Texas Dentist of the Year by the Texas Academy of General Dentistry.
Harrison was nominated by the Greater Houston Dental Society and chosen from among 16 nominees by a distinguished panel of judges. The winner is determined based on contributions to dentistry, service to the community, dedication to principles of continuing education and other activities that indicate character and excellence. The award was presented Sept. 16 at the Texas Academy Awards celebration in Austin.
“There is no greater honor in dentistry in Texas than to receive this award from the Texas AGD,” Harrison said. “After hearing all the accolades about the other nominees for this year’s award, I was proud to be included in the group of 16. Seeing so many of my friends’, colleagues’ and mentors’ names on the trophy that now includes my name is very humbling.”
Harrison received the Texas A&M School of Dentistry’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2016, as well as a certificate of congressional recognition from U.S. Rep. Brian Babin the same year.
