Prospective students get an insider’s view into dental school life

It was a full day for attendees of the 12th annual Impressions Day at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry on March 29. An initiative of the college’s Student National Dental Association chapter, the event offers predental undergraduate students a glimpse into dental school life and helps them decide if a career in the oral health professions is right for them.

This year’s agenda included a panel discussion featuring TAMBCD faculty and alumni, a tour of the dental school and a chance to talk with current students, as well as a strategy workshop to prepare for the DAT, or dental admission test.

A couple 2014 highlights included mock admissions interviews and hands-on lab experiences that simulated drilling and filling teeth and waxing dental crowns — an addition that helped lure 110 students from three states to the Dallas campus.

Here are a few highlights from the day, in photos.
