Texas A&M School of Dentistry was full of bright smiles last Friday, more so than usual, as Reveille X stopped by for a special visit to wrap up Howdy Week. Reveille is the mascot of Texas A&M University, as well as the highest-ranking member of the Corps of Cadets.

This was the inaugural year for the school to host a Howdy Week celebration of its

own, ahead of the Southwest Classic between the Aggies and the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. A regular event on the main campus in College Station, Howdy Week comprises several days of events for students to settle into college life and learn more about the university’s traditions at the beginning of the semester.

Here at the School of Dentistry, along with a visit from Reveille, students enjoyed breakfast treats and ice cream, T-shirts and other swag, trivia night, and a chance to win tickets to last Saturday’s football game against Arkansas.

The winner of the tickets, D3 Madeline Willer, says she was appreciative of the opportunities and fun Howdy Week provided students.

“My boyfriend Michael and I – who are both class of ’20 – had an absolute blast at the game cheering on our Aggies,” says Willer.

Considered the “First Lady of Aggieland,” Reveille was the highlight of the week. This was her first visit to the dental school. Reveille was given a tour of the main and clinical buildings and was joined by her handlers Mascot Corporal Grayson Poage and Cadet CJ Aycock. Students, faculty, and staff all had the opportunity to meet her and take photos.

“It was a great time for all of us,” says Brittany Ramsey, student affairs assistant with the Office of Student Affairs, who coordinated Howdy Week. “I truly enjoyed seeing smiles on everyone’s faces all week long. We are already looking forward to next year. Everyone was real excited to meet Reveille. Hopefully she’ll get to come visit us again soon!”
