Miller named assistant dean

Title change reflects parity with professional school peers
September 20th, 2019

Dr. Barbara Miller has been named assistant dean for recruitment and admissions after serving as executive director of recruitment and admissions at Texas A&M College of Dentistry since 2005. This new title aligns with her peers who hold similar responsibilities at other dental colleges.

Among numerous activities, Miller revises admissions criteria, visits predental programs at colleges and universities, interviews dental applicants and teaches the cultural competency curriculum to D1 through D4 and DH1, as well as the ethics curriculum as a small-group leader of D3 and DH2 students. She even facilitates meditation sessions for students, faculty and staff while also serving on the college’s health and wellness committee.

Miller, who joined her alma mater as a faculty member in 1984, earned her dental degree in 1983 from what was then known as Baylor College of Dentistry, received a master’s degree in oral biology from Baylor University and her bachelor’s from Texas A&M University. She also earned a certificate in ethics and cultural diversity from Oxford University in England.
