An entry in the 2011 State Employee Charitable Campaign pumpkin decorating contest

The 2017 State Employee Charitable Campaign is in full swing, which means several fun events are in store for Texas A&M College of Dentistry employees and students. All proceeds will benefit select SECC charities. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the next few weeks.

Pumpkin carving and decorating contest

When: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27

Where: Atrium, Texas A&M College of Dentistry

Details: Students, faculty and staff may enter a pumpkin in the contest. Entries may be made as a department or as an individual and must be carved or decorated. Those who don’t submit an entry can still contribute by voting for their favorites. Pay 50 cents to cast a vote, or place a minimum $5 silent auction bid to take a pumpkin home. All proceeds from the contest and silent auction will be designated to the winner’s SECC charity of choice.

About the State Employee Charitable Campaign

Now in its 24th year, the SECC is the only state-authorized workplace giving campaign for employees of state agencies and higher education — including universities and junior colleges — throughout Texas. Offering the convenience of payroll deduction, more than $8 million was given to charitable organizations in 2016 alone.

To enroll in the campaign: By Oct. 31, log into the Texas A&M University System Single Sign On, click “SECC Enrollment,” and select your contribution option and charities of choice.
