Texas A&M School of Dentistry recognized with two Cuspies Awards

February 9th, 2023

Texas A&M School of Dentistry received not one, but two 2023 Cuspies Awards – Best Dentistry Training Program and Best Dental Hygiene Program.

Presented annually by industry news site DrBicuspid.com, the prestigious awards are presented to people and organizations who “educate dental professionals across the world, teach dental terms in multiple languages and share dental knowledge across content types.”

Theresa Pablos, editor-in-chief of DrBicuspid.com, said this is the first time one school has claimed both top tier awards in the same year.

The dental training program was recognized for its century-plus history of hands-on training, and the fact that the school is the largest oral healthcare provider in North Texas. The dental hygiene program was recognized for its signature Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene program, as well its Master of Science in education for dental hygiene. The runners-up for each award were Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and the dental hygiene program at Collin College, respectively.

“It is an honor to be the first school to receive both the dental and dental hygiene program awards at the same time,” Dean Lily T. García said. “It is a special recognition of the quality of our programs, but more importantly, it reflects on our exceptional student body, faculty and staff. We are thankful for this recognition, and congratulations to everyone who made this possible.”

Leigh Ann Wyatt, executive director of the dental hygiene program, added, “We’re very grateful for this award. We work hard to make our dental hygiene program the best it can be and to train hygienists who treat patients competently and compassionately.”
