Stories from Trauma Room 1, with Dr. Robert V. Walker ’47

During those few minutes President John F. Kennedy was in the emergency operating room at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dr. Robert V. Walker saw it all. The frenzied activity of multiple doctors and surgeons. A brief dispute between a hospital pathologist and Secret Service personnel. The first lady’s touching goodbye to her husband.

In this 2010 video, Walker ’47 recounts the scene for an audience at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry. At the time of the assassination, he was in his seventh year on the oral and maxillofacial surgery faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

In April 2011, Walker, a distinguished alumnus and longtime champion of the dental school, passed away. His remembrance of Nov. 22, 1963, continues to live on in this video.
