Altruism with ripple effects
Class gift to benefit patients and students
In a move that benefits patients and future students simultaneously, the Class of 2015 collected donations from class members to fund a gift to Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry’s Social Services Dental Care Fund.
Leeanna Bartlett, director of social services, explains that financial assistance granted through the fund allows selected patients to remain in treatment when unexpected expenses might otherwise cause them to cease care. This enables dental students to complete treatment on these assigned patients, thus fulfilling curriculum requirements. The class gift, with the addition of matching funds from an anonymous donor, totals $3,350.
