Dr. Barbara Miller granted emerita status

Dr. Barbara Miller

Texas A&M University recently granted emerita status to Dr. Barbara Miller, retired Texas A&M School of Dentistry faculty member. She was named associate professor emerita of comprehensive dentistry for significant contributions throughout her long and distinguished service to the school.

Miller joined the dental school in 1984 as a part-time clinical instructor and retired in July 2023, after a 39-year tenure. She is also an alumna, enrolling as a student in 1979. She held numerous positions over her career, before retirement holding the position of assistant dean in the Office of Student Affairs and associate professor with tenure in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry. Besides her teaching role, she also served as chair of the D.D.S. Admissions Committee, the Recruitment Task Force, the Student Success Team and many more.

During her tenure, Miller oversaw many changes at the school and the dental field itself. She helped lead efforts to increase recruitment across underrepresented communities. Her career was one filled with compassion, hard work and support for the student body.
