Dr. Connie Hastings Drisko, Class of 1961
Dr. Connie Hastings Drisko, a graduate of Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry’s Caruth School of Dental Hygiene, passed away June 22, 2014, in Augusta, Ga.
Drisko was a highly regarded dental educator who retired in 2013 after serving for a decade as dean and Merritt Professor at Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine in Augusta.
She was a practicing dental hygienist for 16 years before receiving a dental degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completing a hospital-based general practice residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kan. She received a certificate in periodontics and became a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 1990, was elected as a director in 2000 and served as chair in 2006.
Drisko also was a loyal and supportive alumna, enthusiastically accepting TAMBCD’s invitation to provide the 2013 commencement address.
