Dr. Patricia Blanton, professor emeritus in biomedical sciences, received the 2014 William John Gies Award from the American College of Dentists.
The award, given since 1940 to fellows who make exceptional contributions to the society and dental profession, is the highest honor the college bestows upon one of its members.
Inducted into the Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry Hall of Fame in 2012, Blanton has served myriad roles within organized dentistry, including terms as president of the American College of Dentists, Texas Dental Association, Southwest Society of Periodontists, Dallas County Dental Society and vice president of the American Dental Association.
