Miles ahead
Runathon, matching donations generate $30,000 for TAMBCD Social Services Dental Care Fund.
On Aug. 21, Miles for Smiles organizers presented a $10,000 check for the Social Services Dental Care Fund at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry. Matching donations mean $30,000 will be directed toward the fund, which helps patients in the Dallas area who are unable to afford their dental care.
Miles for Smiles has experienced substantial growth since it was created in 2008. The brainchild of students at the University of Texas at Dallas, the runathon is a truly collaborative event among dental students at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry, predental students from across Dallas-Fort Worth, as well as dentists, individuals and businesses. In all, more than 100 volunteers and approximately 300 runners contributed to this year’s event on June 27.
