During the 2011-2012 academic year, public health sciences faculty and staff teamed up to provide content for a May 2012 Texas Dental Journal special series titled “Deciphering the Mysteries: Cancer and Oral Health.” Their efforts and those of other contributors were well received, as the International College of Dentists USA Section recognized the journal’s series with the Golden Pen, Division 1 Award.
Dr. K. Vendrell Rankin, professor and associate chair, wrote one article, and Drs. Anneta Bitouni and Yashashri Urankar, assistant professor and clinical assistant professor, respectively, co-authored another. Grady Basler, program director, designed the cover.
